Veasey's Decoy Painting Treatise is one of the best treatments of the subject that's ever been published. I am studying with him and asked if he had changed anything about the colors he outlined in this book written in the mid 80s? His quick answer was have the ducks changed since then? He hasn't lost a step! Having this refernece is almost like having him sitting along side of you while you paint.

This must have been self-published because it's in need of an editor. Pretty crude by today's standards. Low quality photos and incomplete descriptions. Colors are not true to life, likely because of the poor color transfer methods use when printing.

Visits oil painting styles for duck decoys. Since many people today paint with acrylic paints, reading this book broadens one's horizons regarding painting with oils. I'm not fond of all his techniques, but it provides much food for thought.

I bought this book along with 2 others for my dad. I can tell this is a wonderful book and by far better than the others I purchased. Everything you have read in the other reviews I ditto here.

Excellent resource purchased at a very reasonable price. The seller was very timely in their shipment of this item.

Starting on decoy # 8 next week. Painting is easy with this book.

I am new to waterfowl painting and found this book very helpful to a beginner. It was written in an easy to follow manner that made sense. I have experminted with suggested processes and found them extremely helpful as I improve my techniques for painting. I recommend the book as an excellent resource book for anyone painting waterfowl.

I bought the book because my fiance and I are going to Vegas for our honeymoon and neither of us had been; Frommer's Guide to las vegas 2011 is a great book and I found it immensely helpful. Having only driven through Vegas, and never stopped, I was shocked by how much there really is to do in Vegas besides just gambling. The book is very helpful and provides information on just about every single thing there is to do in Las Vegas. The chapter divisions are very helpful as well as the key to the book at the beginning. The book divides up into chapters such as what hotel to pick, what to do after dark in Vegas, what to do during the day, and what to eat, etc. Also particularly helpful about this book was the prices listed and "Vegas freebies" section, but I will say after visiting Vegas, some of the prices he lists in the book are WAY OFF, so be aware. I was a bit disappointed to find that there wasn't more free stuff to do in Vegas, but Frommer's does give helpful money saving tips and all the freebies in Vegas. Another section that was particularly helpful was the Dinning section. My fiance and I loved to try new places to eat and Frommer's does a fine job of listing every single place worth eating in Vegas, prices and the different kinds of cuisines. Not to mention the review of the barrage of buffets offered at all hotels. However, we visited 2 buffets in Vegas, one being the Rio world carnival buffet and it was fantastic as advertised in the book. We were led astray by another recommendation he gave in the book: the main street station garden court buffet. He gave it 3 stars (the highest rating) and stated it was the best buffet in Vegas. It was the WORST buffet in Vegas, worst than a country buffet even! We were so disappointed and felt so ripped off we left with out even finishing one whole plate. The book also gives you ideas of things to do around the Las Vegas area; some aren't worth it (a 40 min, $15 both-ways shuttle drive to some factory outlets on the border of Cali.) But still others seem to be great value (Hoover Dam trip; $30 for a full guided and partially unguided tour.) I was a little bit disappointed that the book didn't offer any review of the Polo Towers where my Fiance and I are staying,. But with it being a timeshare type hotel, I'm not surprised. Frommer's also gives good reviews of how to properly find a hotel and what questions to ask. Overall the book is a must have for Vegas trips, especially for first timers.

We read the Frommer's Guide to Las Vegas before going there. It was extremely helpful, with tons of information ranging from free activities to where to find cheaper food to hotel and casino reviews. There is also information about tours available in the area. And reviews of shows. My husband had been to Las Vegas several times before, although not recently, and he found the book to be very helpful as well. This was well worth the money we spent on it, and we found it to be very up-to-date. I'm very glad we had this resource before and during our trip!

I am a first time Vegas tripper, looking forward to my Vegas vacation coming up in about 5 weeks! I always do research and with Vegas, I have been searching the web for advice, deals, itineraries, hotels, and decided to purchase this book. I am glad I did. This book has lots of information that I did not find on the web. Like the where to dine chapter is detailed and very helpful. The author has a bit of a sense of humor in this book and some personal favorite casinos. I wish the book had more personal opinions and I wish the book talked more about preferences concerning what casino has the best comps. I thought the book focused on the high end of Vegas more so than the affordable Vegas for the average couple. But hey it's Vegas Baby! Where money talks! I appreciate this book and do not regret the purchase.

I've never been to Vegas, and my husband and I are going in August. I love to travel, I love to plan trips. I get a little obsessive actually. I like to know all there is to know before I go and this is perfect for someone like me. I feel like I know so much more about Vegas now, and I'm super excited. I like that it's not only interesting and informative but funny at times too. Not at all a dry read. It's been a great investment already, I'm going to take it with me for sure.

I regularly use Frommer's guides when I travel. This particular one was of a much lower quality than the other ones I have seen. It did not appear to be well researched. The information was already badly outdated. I cannot recommend this particular Frommer's publication.

I go to Vegas every year and I update my Frommer's Las Vegas every year because something new is always going on in Vegas and Frommer's keep me in the know on the latest news and happenings. I've also tried other guide books and they are usually so outdated and misleading. Just love Frommer's. They are the BEST.

For anyone who has been to Vegas even once, this book lacks anything of real value. The star's that are given the attractions/hotels etc. are not well described - for example you see a one star review for something and the text describes it as great and then you see a 3 star review and the author is picking it apart or just provides a high level overview with no reasoning at all for the ranking. The author's have a constant sarcastic tone about Vegas and I was so put off by the book that I'm returning it. Did not find any inside tips and the reviews were scant at best. The Web has more to offer with even casual searches than this book.

This info-packed guidebook of Las Vegas and the surrounding areas was extremely handy and informative on my most recent trip there ! It is easy to navigate and fun to read.It convinced me to do some side trips and answered numerous questions for me.I recommend it ! Get it early and read uo so you can preplan some of your trip highlights !

This book is full of errors. I am a Spanish teacher and we ordered this book to help a student prepare to take the exam through an independent study. After having her try only a few of the grammar exercises, I was appalled to find glaring grammar errors such as "se vende pantalones" (it should be se venden) and "cocinar tan bueno como" (bueno is an adjective, not an adverb, hence can only modify nouns, never verbs) presented as correct constructions. Do not purchase this book.

It had minimal errors, unlike many of the other Princeton Review books I have bought, and had some decent tips and helpful phrases that I ended up using on the exam.

This was helpful in practicing for the exam, especially for the speaking and listening parts, since it came with a practice disc.

Easy to use and follows the organization of the test. Using it as supplemental to curriculum.

It provides really good practice tests.

The book would be good for Pre-AP, but not for AP because the audio files are not authentic. There is no variation in accents which students would need to be skilled at to pass the actual test. Also, the sources for the essay portion do not equate the sources in any other AP training book. I will keep this, but not for my AP kids, but rather for my pre-AP.

This is a short read, rather on the academic side. It's partly an examination of how the Spanish (officials, historians and others) viewed the Pacific. The Spanish were deeply involved in parts of the Pacific from the 1500s, for trade and missionary activity, and the famed galleon trade started in the mid 1500s and lasted for 250 years, an immensely important activity (the book says 3/4 of Spanish silver mined in the Americas went to China, fueling an extensive trade. Spanish colonies included the Philippines (not all the islands) and the Marianas (Guam) and lasted until 1898, generations after the American empire was lost.Chapter 1 is the best section. It loos at the "lake" up to 1800. I had not known that the islands were part of New Spain, that is, administratively part of Mexico. There was, over the years, a fairly sizable movement of peoples, Asians to Mexico and Americans to Asia. Some of the stories are remarkable. An informal saint for most of her life, living in Pueblain Mexico, Catarina de San Juan was born a slave in Mughal India. And the Franciscan San Felipe de Jesus (the name he is known by) was a Mexican martyred in Japan. Chapter 2, "defending the lake", is mostly an academic focus, interesting enough perhaps, but I found it tedious.Chapter 3 is focused on the Philippines, and concerns arming the Chinese mestizos in Manila (for defense against the British, Chinese pirates, and so on). The discussion is again a bit tedious but the situation is intriguing, the emergence of a Sino-Spanish factor in an Asian region. Chapter 4 looks at colonizing Guam and the history of the Chamorro people.Taken together, the book is informative on Spanish Asia and its relationship with Mexico. The academic details of how the Spanish regarded the Pacific is really the main purpose of the book, but the information on other aspects is what most readers will find interesting.

Katie Douglas is a new author to me. This book was a novella and the first in the Arizona Heat Series. I really enjoyed this quick read. It was funny and very steamy. I can’t wait to read the other characters stories!

Tie Me Down is the first book in the Arizona Heat series. Alana is on the run from her abusive ex when she stops for gas in Arizona and faints. Lawson is there and immediately takes action, bringing her to his ranch, wanting to protect Alana and her unborn baby. Their attraction is immediate, their connection building quickly, but can they keep each other safe from the dangers of her past?This couple is so fun together, as they laugh, play, and joke through what life throws their way. But I also love their chemistry, both the sexy and the kinds that build their foundations to their future. I loved that Lawson was willing to do so much for a stranger, trying to master pregnancy cravings and using his dominance to keep Alana safe and protected. Alana was in a bad situation, but tried to do as much as she could for the safety of her baby. I loved that she never wanted to be a burden, loved some of her internal and emotional hiccups, but loved that Lawson could fulfill her needs. One aspect of this book that I loved was that Ms. Douglas wasn’t afraid to cover more sensitive topics, topics that really effected both Lawson and Alana, and they’re real topics that many readers might have experienced. I really enjoyed reading this book! It was sweet, made me giggle, fast paced, steamy, with a few elements of domestic discipline, and a whole lot of love! I’m so excited to see where this series is going to go next!

Once again, Ms. Katie Douglas has entertained me with a wonderful story, and I loved the chemistry between Lawson and Alana. This is the first book in the Arizona Heat series, but it reads well as a stand-alone.Alana has escaped her ex-con boyfriend, Jimbo, after he beat her up when she refused to get rid of his baby, she is carrying. She left Seattle in his car and is hoping to get to New Mexico. Stopping at a gas station in Arizona, she is stressed, tired, achy, dehydrated and passes out. She will be rescued by a local rancher, Lawson Dale, and taken to his home.The plot will have Lawson taking care of Alana, and from their meeting, they clicked, and it doesn’t take long before they get down and dirty. When he discovers her predicament, that she has had no prenatal care and she is sporting bruises days after a beating, he insists on taking her to the hospital to be checked. Alana hasn’t had much of a happy life with distant parents, getting involved with an ex-con, and now she is pregnant and on the run—but Lawson seems to care genuinely and makes her feel special—needed—wanted—and he offers her a safe place to stay. How far is Lawson willing to go to keep Alana and her baby safe? Will she stay under his protection, learning what it is like to be cared for—or will she feel like she is in the way and needs to leave?“It had all been so easy and natural—bantering, flirting, joking around together.”The story includes some mid-BDSM, spankings, sex toys, power exchange, and explicit sex scenes. It also has some tense moments of danger that will play out.

Whitehead calls this a work in 'speculative philosophy.' It is 'speculative' which is sort of self-explanatory, and it's philosophical, also pretty self-explanatory. His speculative philosophy is all-encompassing - he literally believes it accompanies the entire world that exists and applies to the whole nature of reality. The book itself is incredibly tough to read, not organized very well, and it contains notoriously tough new jargon. IMHO, if you can master Whitehead's jargon, then you can master a big step at understanding the ideas behind P&R. Sherburne's A Key to Whitehead's Process and Reality would be a huge help here.Rather than describe the structure of the book, I'll just set out to discuss Whitehead's philosophical system in this work. Everything that exists is the same type of 'thing.' Everything that exists is what Whitehead called the Category of the Ultimate - creativity. Whether or not creativity has an actual existence on its own is debatable, even within this work. Nevertheless, at the end of the day all the exists is creativity (the new, the novel, creation constantly bursting with existence, a world situation that has never existed before and cannot be accounted wholly by the past). While Whitehead says that actual occasions are the "final real things of which the world is made up," actual occasions are themselves just bursts of creativity and experience. Actual occasions, as bursts of creativity are processes of 'becoming,' a philosophical term with rich history that is often used to contrast with a static, unchanging notion of 'being.' Actual occasions are invisible (obviously - as bursts of experience) and they go through this process of 'becoming,' what Whitehead called 'concrescence.' During this process actual occasions 'choose' what they will 'become.' This 'choice' nullifies the occasion's existence, but this 'choice' is remembered and experienced by the next actual occasion that occurs in that particular stream of experience.God exists and is also an actual occasion, but a nontemporal one. Like all actual entities (occasions), God has a spiritual/physical side. The physical side is the world of becoming and the mental side is what Whitehead called 'eternal objects,' something akin to a Platonic Realm of the Forms. Like the forms, eternal objects are virtually anything than can be perceived. They're ways of becoming - possibilities of experience. Actual occasions cannot choose what they want to become on their own. They are merely self-creating subjects of experience. God knows each actual occasion and at each moment *shows* it, so to speak, what it can relevantly become according to its past and the past of its environment/world. This accounts for order in the universe and assures that not every actual occasion will make self-determining choices which result in chaos for the rest of the world. So, God is a middleman that helps the world evolve or become, ordering it, but not deciding for it. The final decision of what the world becomes as a whole is left to actual occasions.Actual occasions sometimes cluster together into groups. Two types of these Whitehead called nexuses and societies. Both of these are different, yet still similar. Everything you can see is either one of these, likely highly complex versions. So, the more actual entities that cluster, the more complex an entity you can have, and this rich complexity of ordered actual occasions account for everything we see in the world around us.This is a highly oversimplified version of what you will find in this book, but it is a good hint at Whitehead's overall philosophy in P&R. The first time I picked up this work, I couldn't make heads or tails of it. Don't expect to finish this quickly. Indulge slowly and think about it.

Studied this in college and was totally blown away! Process & Reality is, in a nutshell, mathematics-based, process metaphysics, with quantum mechanics thrown in for good measure. Say that 3 times fast! Given that he wrote this in 1927-28, many of the concepts he proposed were way ahead of the times. The concepts he proposed were similar to Spinoza & Meister Eckhart, although more advanced than either one. I found it fascinating! I was a Philosophy major at the time & this was one of the first texts that really ignited my passion for philosophy & quantum mechanics. I would recommend this to Philosophers, Physicists, and anyone who is just naturally inquisitive about the way the world and its parts work.

This is the last book I thought would ever be turned into an ebook. When I studied it in theology class in seminary it was said that only 4 people had ever understood the book, and 3 of them are dead. It is probably one of the most difficult books in the English language in modern philosophy, On the other hand, Process and Reality is the ultimate work by probably the last philosopher to attempt to explain everything.Whitehead was a mathematician, philosopher of science, and a metaphysician. That is metaphysics, not as in mumbo jumbo nonsense, but as in the original sense of an explanation of ultimate reality. The ultimate reality for Whitehead and process philosophers and theologians is not things or ideas but creative process.

Innovative in all respects: the author created a space of his own by analogically accounts for the universe with the idea of growth and prosperity. The interrelation between the past and the present is united in a way that was later developed by Heideggar and Gadamer as horizon fusion. The notion of the THE PRESENT is full explicated. Readers are suggested going on reading Mead's THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE PRESENT. Both are modern classics.

A difficult book but to my way of thinking the most important book in metaphysics since Aristotle's. Whitehead gives real substance to our concepts of what is the true fundamental particle and thereby provides a basis for understanding the philosophical implications of both Relativity and Quantum Mechanics.

Brilliant thesis.

this book is a necessary read for any of us who want to understand Whitehead's philosopy. I became interested in Whitehead in graduate school many years ago. I am rediscovering Whitehead now and am glad to find this copy of his book available in an electronic edition.

One of the most important books for the future of human civilization.
