Great Book. Clear writing and very little BS. I'm reading the Kindle version, which is good for some things (like having the book always at hand),but can suffer from formatting issues. Many "pocket references" can have too little detail. This has more than I expected (which makes me wonder what the upcoming "in a nutshell" book would have that this doesn't).Take his advice and use LINQPad (free version) to try out code.

IMO, C# has evolved sufficiently that, especially when maintaining source with other programmers' idiosyncratic idioms, using out-of-date references can be counterproductive.I'm about half way thru this pocket reference.Fundamental points on which it is weak are "this" and specific implications of ":" ,where examples are provided seemingly instead of clear explanations, e.g. "Rules Within a Namespace" (pp 65-66).Referring to the authors' (also well-regarded) "Nutshell" book is not helpful, since it employs the same approach. FWIW, neither book indexes colon usage, and "Pocket Reference" does not index CLR, Common Language Runtime (page 20).Bottom line: this seems a good portable hard copy up-to-date quick reference.For more/different help, Microsoft's online docs work.

Unusually clear for a pocket guide. Most are so terse that, even if they include all features of a language, become opaque and unhelpful. This one really communicates without becoming overlong. An impressive accomplishment, particularly for a fairly complex language like C#.

These book no longer come with backing track in CD form,...I already knew the songs,...and could play them against the youtube backing track,...I got this simple you the actuall CD that they use to include,...the downloadable MP3 format does me no good,....if you don't know the songs, just get the Iron Main guitar tab book with like 25 or 30 songs in it.

The tablature comes with an authorization code so that you can download the accompanying tracks. There are two version music version of each song - one with the guitar parts that are in the tablature. And, one that is a backing track and you supply the guitar. Neither version of the songs contain vocals so they don't get in the way of hearing what it is that you are trying to learn. It would have been great if they would have included Power Slave, but maybe Hal Leonard will create a volume 2. I have several of the HL Play-Along books and the audio recordings make learning new material fun and no so boring. The two Ozzy Osbourne PAL books by Hal Leonard are also very good.

Got this in a few days ago for my dad for Father's Day. It came in with a bend in one of the corners and along the top of the book. But other than that, it seemed to be in fair condition. The pages also seem to be in proper order from the looks of it. My dad loves and and I'll have to prepare myself for when he plays using the book! I'm sure he'll be playing a lot more often!

The bar has been set pretty high this year, and unfortunately, this one did not really live up to my expectations. It didn't help that just a couple of months ago Flowers released The Last Hellfighter, one of my favorite books of the year. That one was superior in every way!I really enjoyed Planet of the Dead, however I just wasn't feeling this one. With that said, there are still some enjoyable moments in this one. Particularly, Polk's new prosthetic arm, Amy Horrigan's news coverage on the Siege of Washington, and the disturbing new religious cult that is forming.There are going to be several more books in this series, so if you enjoyed the first one as much as I did, you are going to still want to read this one, as I am hoping for greater things to come!

This book starts right from the beginning. Great action and suspense from a bunch of different viewpoints. Really enjoyed reading how it all began and waiting for the next book.

It jumps around a lot which is all well and good but it just seems to be missing something and I am not sure what it is right now.

Loved the book! Can't wait for the next one. It's an awesome read and very enjoyable. I recommend it to anyone that likes the horror genre.

Great series! The back story is well thought out and is packed with many threads all going smoothly into a good darn read! I am a bit upset because the next part is due out in Fall 2019! I'll be waiting, but I read alot, so by the time a part__, comes out, I've forgotten or need to be refreshed about the prior reads.

Second in series keeps going from the first book. Action packed, great characters. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Was going to download it on my Kindle but when I saw the reduced price for a used book I couldn't resist it. Was an old library book lightly used and if you are a fan of the addiction of acquiring Barn finds this is for you. Mine was a parking lot find and the author suggest if you have a story to submit it to him. Maybe I will.

I'm not entirely sure what exactly I was expecting with this book, but it didn't seem to fully deliver in any case. Yes, that sounds flaky, but I just wasn't as impressed as I had expected. The occasional typos and less than pro writing level didn't help (I'm a member of the language police). Still, it's a motorbike book, so there's some interesting stuff along the way for us bike nuts. The examples lean heavily on the Harley/Indian/Vincent finds which knowledgeable antique collector types will find rewarding, but I would have enjoyed a few more stories of "everyguy" finds, but those tend not to make for book-level material, I suppose. I'm glad I read it, but it won't stay on my shelf.

I too could not put down this book. The stories / tales of motorcycle finds from around the world within this book were all great reads. There is only one "con" to this book, and that is it has a ending. You'll think what a great read, I want to read more!

Had a good time with this book. My unfounded expectations were the only thing working against this title as I was hoping for a few more stories of regular joes who happened upon great finds whereas most were tales of the serious collector or museum making acquisitions. Still, extremely enjoyable and really gave some good insight into how these "holy grails" of motorcycle archeology actually take place! Ultimately I'd recommend the book to anyone interested in acquiring their own antique motorcycle.

If you love motorcycles and remember "back in the day" this is a must read. These short stories collectively sew a wonderfully rich and colorful tapestry of those great stories guys tell other guys, who know and love bikes, that when shared cannot help but bring smiles and remembrance of a time past and another story not yet shared. All of Tom's books are great but I personally, particularly, enjoyed this one the most, for it's wide and diverse spectrum of experiences. The third book in Cotter's series of ____In the Barn books, this collection of stories is a nice twist on the original concept delivered by The Cobra in the Barn. These are rich stories that will keep you coming back again and again to relive the thrill of discovery that come with finding these ancient motorcycles entombed somewhere. This book lives proudly on my automotive bookshelf.

What a great book! What a great collection of stories! My newest motorcycle is a 24 year old BMW, purchased new. If you believe, as I, that the best motorcycles have already been built, you will not be able to put this book down! Nicely illustrated; well researched, elegantly written, the stuff that classic motorcycle dreams are made of. Highly recommended. Enjoy!!

Great short stories for motorcycle enthusiasts. I have owned over 32 motorcycles in my 71 years and most were barn, chicken shed, or up-side-down in ditch finds. My best Nortons, Triumphs, BMWs and Hondas came to me the same as Mr. Cotter describes. He presents a wide variety of biographical essays. Also, I enjoyed his Cobra in the Barn and will find the Hemi volume soon. They are easy fun reads.

If she would have had this book prior to her purchase, she would have been better prepared financially and legally. This book is my gift to her, and I expect it will prove its value in the long run.The legalities of any undertaking can be daunting, especially during these litigious times. This book is the perfect reference for new landlords to review and make sure they cover most if not all the issues that may face them depending on their state and its requirements. I was glad to see one chapter covering what to do about legal action. The authors' advice of following a court case through to the end is sound and necessary.The book starts with one of the most difficult issues facing a new landlord--how to vet your tenants. How many landlords have rented or leased to such really nice people, only to have them skip out on paying the rent and leaving behind huge utility bills the landlord is responsible for paying? This book helps with this process.The authors provide state-by-state references for the reader to research online. There is also a CD-ROM on the back cover with copies of the forms one may need.Attorneys and judges are not always as knowledgeable about the law as they should be. This book reviews cases in which judges have issued rulings that seem to go against state law, but are still binding on the parties. New landlords need to understand the basics of their legal rights and who they can turn to for further information.I highly recommend this book to keep as a reference and help guide you to other resources online and through your local agencies.

I've just started the Kindle version, and so far it has lots of info that I didn't even consider when I came up with the idea of becoming a landlord. It's so thorough. It even lists mistakes of past owners so you can prepare for such things.The forms are downloadable on their website, but I did not try those yet. You can also see them in the Kindle version if you're making custom ones and just want ideas.

I highly recommend the Kindle version, as you can do keyword searches for the specific topic that you are concerned with. This book has answered many legal questions for me since becoming a landlord.

I had had this book a few years ago & it came with a CD with landlord forms. It was easy to setup. I thought this would be the same.Forms are supposed to be downloadable but not sure if the correct names. It was so simple to open the file& read what you needed. Really disappointed.

The book was a basic guide when your starting out. It had organized the material that we may already know to manageable reminders. The forms on disc were very helpful. The cost is unfortunately prohibitive to add to a start up investment. Its the kind of purchase that you thought to expensive at the time but after you make all the mistakes you realize the book could have saved you a lot of aggravation & money if you had just bought it. A landlords understanding of rental laws and providing documents explaining what's expected of the tenant can help avoid misunderstandings. If that doesn't work the signed, agreed to documentation stands up in court. Enlightenong the landlord, preparing documents and material on what to do when the lease is being ignored are all covered in the book.

If you only wanted to buy one book to help you get going in landlording, this is the one. It covers all the legal considerations you need to be aware of as a landlord including differences in state laws and the legal forms you need. In so doing, it covers most of the landlording issues that other books do since, really, most of them boil down to legal issues.The state-by-state legal differences were particularly useful so I could craft my lease and properly follow the letter of the law. With just a generic how-to-landlord book, I'm not sure what I would have done. I probably wouldn't have been as aware as I should have about my local laws. And, bonus, the book is clear and easy to read.

Good guide, great read for Landlords...

This book was recommended by a friend who has rental properties. I had been using a property manager in the past but decided to go it on my own, and this guide was great at walking me through all the steps to get a tenant in my rental house. The appendix shows the various state laws, disclosures, etc. that are specific to each state. I was also able to tweak the lease agreement to suit my needs. I would highly recommend this Guide to anyone who has rental properties, especially for inexperienced Landlords.My only complaint was the time it took for the Guide to arrive. I usually get my Amazon products within a few days, and usually before the initial estimated delivery date. For some reason, this Guide took more than 10 days to get to me. This was during the rental application process, and I really could have used the Guide a little sooner. I almost bought it at my local Borders, but it was about $15 more expensive and Amazon had already shipped my order.

Sharon Zukin, it seems, spent quite a while walking around New York. So, as the first three or four chapters (which is about half the book) indicate, she seems to have figured out more or less the formula for gentrification in this city: First you have a working class neighborhood equipped with old, mixed-use buildings and typically having a predominantly ethnic group. Second you have artists and/or creative types deeming such place as "authentic" and setting up shop in these low-rent neighborhoods. Third you have a thriving art scene that attracts new residents, as well as coverage either by the New York Times, the New Yorker, or any other publication that yuppies simply cannot resist. This all eventually leads to a ridiculous rise in property value, displacing both the original group that inhabited the neighborhood and the artists and/or creative types that brought it to prominence.Of course there are variations to this formula. There is mention of private groups banding together to broker private control of public spaces, with the ultimate goal being high-end commercial attractiveness. As a New Yorker I found all this information relevant. I have been to most of these neighborhoods that Zukin describes, and have seen the rapid growth of these areas, specially Harlem. What bothered me about this book is that it took 'til the last few pages before she mentioned any other city besides New York. So, in that sense, any non-New Yorker may not find anything too relatable or familiar. It isn't up until the last third of the book, that the message becomes broader, and begins to deal with the issue of shared spaces. However, the idea presented in this book on authenticity, and whether there is such a thing as an authentic urban place, are ones I find worthy of reflection. There is also the notion that politicians love gentrification, only because it gives off the idea of a functional, safe, thriving and upwardly mobile city. This is of course mostly superficial, since it is not the original inhabitants that are thriving, but a new influx of people. Recent arrivals that have no roots in the neighborhood, but do have a lot of money. The book also goes into other areas that are related, and equally interesting such as "culture consumption" and neighborhood branding tactics. So overall its a good read that may serve as something of an update on Jane Jacob's "Death and Life of Great American Cities" post-millenium.

This is a fun, readable book with an interesting take on urban places.

A very useful viewpoint of how New York ( and related large cities have dealt ( or not dealt) with progressive change in its neighborhoods. By looking closer at Brooklyn, Harlem, East Village, Union Square, Red Hook, neighborhood gardens the author illustrates the relentlessness of change and how city approaches can help or hinder that. What is interesting is that when a neighborhood moves from gritty to cool, then gentrification and rising property values will follow, at some time or another. The author does not forget her history with notes on the likes of Jane Jacobs and Robert Moses as well as notable mayors and their impacts. Good grounding for the urbanest.

Zukin was my professor and this book was well written by her, great class great read.

Zukin has a condescending attitude that all businesses run in lower income communities a) need help, b) are unique, and c) are worthy of our money even if they are bad for the economy and bad for our wallets. A business is not worthy of our money if it is a bad business, and Zukin needs to accept that many businesses in lower income communities are not well run and can be very exploitative, just as big businesses can. There is little about the book that is pro-business and it feels like Sharon does not want to live in a market-based world.
