This is the pony comic story arc you've been waiting for! Ever since the Nightmare Rarity arc I haven't been as emotionally invested in these comics. This one will hit you right in the feels. All the feels. I've now read through it twice. It gives more insight into Celestia's past as well as Starswirl the Bearded. Just go read it already!

Bought for my grandson, who loves My Little Pony. He is an aspiring children's author, even though still only 11 himself. Boys who love MLP are called Brony's, he has learned, and even grown men like MLP.I watch it too, it is a very well done cartoon and great for kids. These books are excellently done and he loves them. He has them on his Kindle App on his Ipad Mini, so great color display for reading pleasure.

Ordered the book for my son. This one is a little advanced for a 7 year old but we read it together and he enjoyed it!

I have read just about all the mlp comics, and while I like them all, this one is a cut above the rest. Humor mixed in with a truly epic story, with a fairly unexpected end for a my little pony comic.I would love to see this adapted into a movie, but sadly that's probably not possible.

My kids love these graphic novels. I like that they aren't Captain Underpants with the horrible mis-spelled words or Diary of a Wimpy Kid that might influence your child to think the tricks played on other characters are funny and not hurtful.

This is a big time adventure. I loved the detail of the book. It just looked like a really fine art to me. However, this book would be perfect for kids who love my little pony! Awesome than ever book!!!

This book is the best! Yet.

"Observing the Solar System" is a fairly complete (a relative term when discussing the Solar System) guide for an amateur astronomer to start viewing the night sky. It has a strong focus on planets and comets, and not as much attention to galaxies and some of the Messier objects. There are twelve chapters:1. Earth and Sky - half is about basic geology of the Earth and the other half discusses meteors.2. Moon and planet observer's hardware - this whole chapter is about what type of telescope setup you need for observing the moon and planets.3. The Solar System framed - discusses CCD cameras for amateur astrophotography4. Stacking up the Solar System - this whole chapter is about "focus stacking" with astrophotography to get better images.5. Our Moon - This is one of the better chapters of the book and is very comprehensive for an amateur lunar observer. It discusses lunar characteristics and what you can expect when viewing the moon. I found some very useful info in it that I didn't already know.6. Mercury and Venus - You're not going to see much in a telescope when observing these two planets due to their size and apparent magnitude, but it discusses their orbits and phases and has some interesting info on transits.7. Mars - a decent chapter on observing through a telescope, and with the naked eye, as well as the orbit of Mars and its moons.8. Jupiter - One of the better chapters of the book and that I've found in an amateur astronomer's guide, with information on observing the planet and its moons.9. Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune - Half about Saturn and its moons, and half about Uranus and Neptune.10. Small Worlds - Asteroids, Pluto, binocular observing, asteroid photography, and photometry (which I feel is a bit dry and could have been left out).11. Comets - 1/3 discusses comet behavior, and the rest is about comet photography and photometry.12. Our daytime star - solar characteristics, tips for safe solar viewing without setting your eyeballs on fire, and sunspots.

Planetary observation can be highly addicted but equally highly frustrating. A productive visual or imaging session requires a seemingly impossible confluence of vital factors such as atmospheric stability, accurate optical collimation, proper polar alignment, thermal equilibrium of optics, etc. For folks who live in parts of the country where the jet stream is prevalent, observation can be quite frustrating. Bringing huge optical surfaces from a cold indoors into a warm night will likewise create a huge amount of dew on the optical surfaces. 2. There are, for those starting in the hobby, very nice iPhone observational apps that will help one locate the planets. Sometimes, some information is not illustrated, that needed to be, like that on noctilucent clouds. There are only 8 pages of colour plates. The many line diagrams are good and there is abundant common sense advice on observing the solar system.The history of many of these bodies and that of unmanned spacecraft is given. The `old-fashioned' idea of drawing the planets you observe is interesting and a challenge to those who are fascinated by this. The reliability of solar filters is stressed with some sites included and some suggested excellent books for further investigation on viewing solar eclipses.This book is for your committed sky gazer. The information is somewhat technical, but explained in a simplified fashion. This is the solar system, including visitors such as comets, asteroids and meteorites - not the stars or constellations..

I wanted to like this book a lot. It has a good rhyming scheme for toddlers and covers the eight planets in our solar system. Its illustrations are simple and colorful--I like that when one lifts up the flap there is a little window into what the surface of the planet looks like. My major issue with the book is due to its incredibly low level of content (the book can be read cover to cover in under a minute) and the flimsy design of the flaps. I had hoped that by purchasing a board book, it would be sturdy enough to withstand the abuse of a toddler, but that is not the case. However, if you have an older toddler, then this book is a good (albeit simple) primer on the planets!

My son loves all things related to outer space. This is a great book for a 2 1/2 year old. I read in one review that the pages were not sturdy enough for toddlers. My little guy is pretty rough on books, and it's holding up just fine! It is NOT a board book, and some of the pages are showing use, but that's what books are for!

My 3 year old loves this book. Each page with a planet has the planet name and a colorful illustration of the planet on a flap. If you lift the planet/flap there is a quick fact underneath and an illustration of a close up of the planet or what the surface looks like. Quick read and super cute!

very cute book! it was a lot bigger than I expected it to be, i guess i pictured a smaller toddler board book. the flaps are softer paper, not hard, but they're nicely laminated. it is a book which just has the 8 planets. i was hoping it would have more about rockets and space shuttles, but it's nice for what it is. vibrant colors and my 2 yr old seems to like it.

My son likes to lift up the pages. Only thing that would make it better would be if they said more about each planet. For example with Neptune, it says its the last planet in the Solar System, time to go home. Still a good introductory book to the Solar System.

My daughter LOVES this book and she is 1.5yrs. She knows her planets thanks to this book! The colorful pictures and flaps make this super fun to read with the little ones.
